Film Opening Inspiration

In terms of research, I had to do a lot of digging to find some kind of inspiration from other films to give me some idea of what I wanted to include in my film and the little trailer we were supposed to put together. The first video of reference was supposed to show how discovering places is scary and raw yet get the audience to want more. It was not a movie but it did give the same vibe that I was hoping to somewhat portray within the film opening I filmed. The second reference video was to show how I wanted to use that kind of suspense. The trailer showed silence in a wider spectrum considering it was targeting the world as a whole rather than just a town or something. I just wanted our film to be selective in the people who were going to be killed and leave the audience wondering why it happened to them. Lastly, I liked the aspect of having a character that was trusted which is then the one who betrays those they gained trust from. In Ma, the film shows how ‘Ma’ gains trust from these teenagers which she was actually targeting because of their parents and her past with them. She eventually betrays them and attempts to kill them but they managed to somehow escape in the end. I liked the horror aspect of it and the plot itself which brought me to bring some kind of little plot of my own which I would later include in the end of the year video project.
